UV Purification
Two different methods of UV purification exist:
1. Purifying the object and
2. Purifying the air.
A stationary object is purified with a UV “stick-light” that prevents and destroys microbial growth. In severe cases, installation over the coil will prevent microbial growth on the coil. The “stick-light” will keep the object clean, but has minimal effect on the air.
Purifying moving air is much more complex. Time and intensity are influencing factors. When a UV air purifier is installed, the lamp is installed parallel to the ductwork. In doing this, contaminants in the air stream are exposed to 2400% more contact time with the UV energy. More contact time equates to a higher kill.
